The
Remote Video Monitoring System (RVMS) allows a user to view and capture
images from remote locations where there is no electrical power or terrestrial
communications infrastructure.
The user connects to the RVMS using any computer with a telecommunications modem. An Iridium satellite communications modem within the RVMS allows the remote system to be located anywhere in the world. For low cost data transfer, a cellular GSM modem within the RVMS allows the remote system to be located anywhere where there is GSM coverage. Once connected, the client software provided allows the user full control of the pan, tilt and zoom (PTZ) functions of the camera and the ability to view images in real-time and to save images to their local data storage media.
The RVMS derives its power from solar panels which keep a storage battery fully charged while the system is not in use. The storage battery allows for several hours of operation even when ambient light conditions are poor.
