United Defense Industries, Inc. (NYSE: UDI) announced today that the Government Accountability Office ruled in favor of the U.S. Navy's Best Value Award decision to the Company's Norfolk, Virginia, shipyard, NORSHIPCO, of the Amphibious Assault Ship, LHA/LHD, multi-ship, multi-option contract, originally awarded in December, 2004.
The GAO decision to deny the protest allows the Navy and NORSHIPCO to immediately resume repairs and modernization of the LHA/LHD class of vessel.
