C²I² Press Release 1996-01-01 The SK-NET FDDI-LP is the fibre-optic PCI-bus version of a family of FDDI network interface card from SysKonnect (a division of Schneider and Koch). The Class B option has a single optical fibre port which allows PCs with 32-bit PCI-buses to be integrated into an FDDI network as single attachment stations (SAS) by means of an FDDI concentrator. The Class A option provides a dual attachment station (DAS) connected directly to the main FDDI ring. The SK-NET FDDI-LP card currently supports Novell Netware (V3.12, 4.01, 4.1 and SFTIII, Microsoft Windows NT (V3.5), Macintosh System ( V7.5) and SCO Unix, with further drivers under development. The SK-NET FDDI-LP uses SC fibre connectors while the SK-NET FDDI-FP (Class B only) uses a MIC fibre connector. The SK-NET FDDI-LP offers optical bypass control for use with an optional optical bypass relay. SK's SK-NET FDDI-UP card supports a copper (MLT-3 over UTP) media option in both single and dual-attached configurations. These cards use the standard RJ-45 connector. SK-NET FDDI for PCI cards comply with the ANSI X3T9.5 FDDI specifications and have passed interoperability testing at the ANTC (Advanced Networking Test Centre). SK's FDDI for PCI cards are now shipping. |
