C²I² Press Release

First Issued by DY4 Systems

July 2001

Kanata, Ontario -- Dy 4 Systems, Inc., announces that it has become the exclusive reseller of ruggedized PMC Serial I/O adapters manufactured by C²I² Systems for the defense and aerospace market.

Dy 4 Systems Inc. designs leading-edge Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) embedded solutions.  Based on open systems architectures, Dy 4’s boards, software and systems are deployed in mission-critical, high-reliability commercial and defense applications. Coupled with best in class products, Dy 4 also provides complete life cycle management, engineering integration services and tailored customer support services.

C²I² Systems (PTY) Ltd., Kenilworth, Cape Town, South Africa, specializes in systems development and, especially, data communications for real-time systems for the defense electronics industry. These capabilities are applicable to the system architecture and implementation of complex, distributed, real-time control and management systems.

C²I²’s PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) Serial I/O products feature high transmission rates, efficiency and cost-effectiveness, making them ideal for real-time communications links. A Motorola PowerQUICC processor acts as the communications front-end allowing the use of a wide range of communications protocols, as well as intelligent management and status reporting of the serial links. Available in both forced-air and conduction cooled versions, these products provide four channels of simultaneous, high-speed, bi-directional serial communications.

The reseller arrangement, the first of its kind for Dy 4 Systems, will allow Dy 4 Systems and C²I² to leverage their engineering resources and knowledge, as well as their already established and tested intellectual properties.  “This will save us, and our customers, the time and costs in developing these products from the drawing board,” said Anthony Siregar, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Dy 4 Systems. “Our customers will get ‘one-stop shopping’ with a product that is compatible and interoperable, and that meets the high quality and ruggedization standards Dy 4 customers have always relied on.”

Dy 4 System’s rigorous selection criteria for this product covered C²I²’s design and development capabilities, its compatibility with Dy 4 products and services; its high quality; its commitment to customer service; and its product and vendor reliability.

“This symbiotic relationship will deliver significant benefits to our respective existing and prospective customer bases,” said Richard Young, CEO and Managing Director, C²I² Systems.
